They do.  But apart from that, there are javascripted combo boxes that don't 
conform to the 'standard', in much the same manner that not all forms are 
standard (often requiring exiting forms mode or the screenreader equivalent 
to get needed information along the way) using JAWS and other screenreaders.

What version of jaws and internet explorer are you using?  Version 8 jaws
and version 7 of i e work fine on combo boxes.  marilyn
