Perhaps instead of using control o to open your documents within Word, you could go to you're my documents folder and open them there. When you open one document and it isn't the one you want, do a control f4 to close that document and then alt tab back to your list of documents in you're my documents folder. This will put you back on the last docuent you opened.

I have a lot of word documents in my list of word documents in word 2003. Due to my studies, I have a lot with the same prefix i.e a subject/unit code number. Sometimes I may not remember what is in each document. I do obviously give each a descriptive title. However, if I am looking for a particular piece of info, I may not remember exactly which document it is in. I therefore, may need to open each file in turn so as to check if that is the file I want. If it isn't, I obviously have to go back to my list of documents and choose another document. The problem is, each time you do a control O and shift tab back to your list of documents, you are put back at the top of the list. Is there a way of returning back to the last file you opened? That would save a lot of trouble having to find where I last was. I do use first letter navigation. However, like I said, I have a lot of files beginning with the same name e.g my unit code.
