Thanks RJ, I just ran Super Anti-spyware. It found a couple of cookies, one from AdAware and another from something called IWonder something but that was it. I also ran a registry programme last night which claims to find 480 questionable registry items but would only deal with 5 with the free edition. Not sure I believe it. It might have killed something bad though.
