I don't bother with the Winamp Agent, either, for the same reasons. (It had been known to get in the way of the main Winamp window.) Also, I prefer Windows media Player as my default for many file types. One reason is the ability to more easily 'speed listen' in WMP, which is useful for podcast listening, by increasing the speed up-down slider from its default at 14% to sometimes more than 20%. (that tab area - the Windows media Taskbar - is a feature-rich one. I also use a braille display, so perhaps that helps, as well as having an external speech synthesizer.)

Everything I've read about installing the Winamp Agent says to do otherwise and not install it. It apparently does not work well with screen readers, and has even been suggested on Main Menu that the agent be excluded from being installed on all machines running assistive technology. Has this changed since the release of 5.35? I have not updated to 5.51 as I still think there are some bugs that need to be ironed out in that issue, but I still have not seen anything to contradict my earlier comments.
