I am self employed. I have always been able to purchase sma's for both Jaws and open book. My adaptive equipment was purchased by my state rehabilitation services in 97. Then a hardware synthesizer had to be purchased as well, amounting to 1200 dollars above the cost of the adaptive software. The sma's only cost 100 dollars every two or so years. If one saves 20 dollars a month for that length of time sufficient money can be saved .
