Good find Steve!
Scott, if this works, I think it is a reasonable accommodation to have the
negative numbers displayed in both red and with a minus sign. If your
instructor gives you a problem with this, then you should immediately speak
with the disabilities services office for your school, an academic counselor
or the EEO office.

Scott,

There are four ways negative numbers can be displayed. It sounds like on
your worksheet you have the second option, which displays them in red.
As far as I can work out JAWS won't ever tell you this colour information.
However, the fourth way to display negative numbers is in red and with a
minus sign before; JAWS still won't read the colour but it will read the
minus sign. Would that work?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Excel, negative numbers, red text, jaws does

I am trying to get jaws to acknowledge negative numbers in an Excel
worksheet set up for accounting.

my school/Professor requires that negative numbers are displayed as red
text. This works fine for someone with good vision but sucks for the VI'd.

I can get the actual value by using the edit key (F2) but this is
impractical on a sheet that has hundreds or thousands of entries.

I've tried changing some settings with configuration manager without any
success.

set options > speech and sounds manager

select scheme: colors

I select foreground color red to be read with a different voice. Does not
make any change to the output audio.

any ideas?

thanks
