There's always a problem it seems.
I'm curious? How many sites or applications do JAWS users encounter
that require JAVA? I know there a lot of on-line gaming sites that
need it to run their plug-ins. For your own needs is it really worth
the risks? I mean if Google has taken steps to stop certain programs
from appearing on their search engine, there must be a serious
problem. Believe other well known sites have also followed suit.
I would just avoid installing them completely, unless I had full
flexibility to enable them on a site by site basis. That's what using
FireFox will give you. That's why I have Adobe Flash installed only
on FireFox. Some important sites I use haven't switched their web
players to the new HTML 5 format, thus I have to use Adobe Flash to
access their content.

I uninstalled Java about three years ago after the U.S. government
issued this warning. However, I since read that Oracle had fixed the
security vulnerability and that the government withdrew its notice.
Is this over-simplifying? Is there still a problem?

Hi Mike.
If you hav'nt any program that requires java, it is'nt longer
nesesary to install java, it will only make your computer more unsecure.

Hi Adrian,
Okay, did you enable the Java Access Bridge in, Control Panel / Ease
of Access Center / Use the Computer Without a Display link? Thanks much.
Take care.

Mike,
The important, relatively recent development is that screenreader users no
longer need to install JAWS Access Bridge in order for them to work with
Java. JAB is now incorporated into the download. JAB used to be a nightmare.
Java is now produced by Oracle, which bought out its developer, Sun Micro.
Below is the link to an Oracle page of Java downloads:
