I solved the problem. somehow, I'd changed my choice of file extensions in the "open" dialog to an extension I never use. I restored the selection to "all."

I should mention that I did do an Office 2010 repair. I assume I made an accidental change that can be undone. -----Original Message----- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Justin Williams Sent: Wednesday, May 03, 2017 3:28 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS, MS word, can't access files If y ou ar enot at work, try a system restore. This morning, I can't access files via MS word 2010. I can get to my list of folders, but when I press enter on a selection, there's no list of files. Oddly, in one case where the folder has a subfolder, JAWS does detect it, but not the files within either the main or subfolder. I can access the files lists with Windows Explorer. Any ideas?
