When this doesn't seem to work, I add a step. After pressing the control-c copy command for the selected text on the webpage, I open Notepad and paste the result there. Then I copy that Notepad document and paste it into a Word document. I believe the difficulty on some webpages is that they're set up in table format, which can be copied but not read by JAWS. Somehow, copying into Notepad removes the table formatting while keeping the text pretty much intact.
