Control+F1 turns the virtual ribbon on and off. That's what my notes say. I've never done it.

It is handy, but you become dependent on them and they don't work as well as the original menus, since they don't use first-letter navigation. Right now virtual ribbons are turned on .. Would it be easier and more efficient to learn the ribbons if I turned this off?
