Hi, Vicky. If I'm not mistaken, some bibles come in text/Word form, but others as applications. If your copy happens to be an application, you could make an application-specific JAWS pronunciation dictionary. Here, you would open the application, press JAWS key+d for dictionary, refrain from pressing control-shift-d for global, and then proceed as usual.

What I want to be able to do, is to bring up a pronunciation setting for only when I am reading the Bible. Think of the name, Job. Of course Jaws pronounces it like it's your work, instead of a person's name. However, you wouldn't want to have this permanently changed, since it would be wrong most of the time. depending where I was reading, Either in a Word document or online, so I don't want to make it either the default or application specific. I just want to be able to call up these pronunciations, when I will be reading the Bible. Would a scheme be a possibility? Do any of you have any suggestions for me? Also, capitalising syllables helps at times, spaces not always necessary in words. There's a county Kildare (but, using Eloquence, that should be pronounced KilDare), in Ireland. One synth I used makes a bad job of BBC when used with JAWS, nearly always emphasizing the second syllable. So then I had to change it to BBbe Sea. - (Actually, with that synth, Bebe Sea) for more comfortable listening. -----Original Message----- From: Adrian Spratt Sent: Monday, August 14, 2017 10:58 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Pronunciation dictionary A two-part answer. First, I just plugged "du luth" into the replacement field of my JAWS dictionary, and it pronounced the city's name correctly, at least for my synthesizer. Second, I've found no consistency in how the JAWS dictionary processes the emphasis of syllables. Finding a solution in each case depends on trial and error and experience. Even then, sometimes I can find no good solution. -----Original Message----- >From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:[email protected]] >On Behalf Of andy t Sent: Monday, August 14, 2017 4:02 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [JAWS-Users] Pronunciation dictionary Hello how about this, dulUth I capitalized the second u . I don't know if this is what you are looking for or not. I have had to spell a word differently in order to make it sound right with jaws. -----Original Message----- >From: John R. I'm trying to get JAWS to pronounce Duluth properly. The accent should be on the second syllable. JAWS wants to put it on the first syllable. Can anyone help me with this?
