Hi All,
I am using Windows10 on a Dell 5440 with JAWS2018.10.42. Sorry about the incomplete JAWS version, but as you will see, this is one of the several odd behaviors from JAWS. Below are the steps I am executing along with comments about JAWS behavior * Cold boot computer. * Comment - Windows10 initial screen silently comes up. * JAWS announces "JAWS Professional". * Comment - Login screen comes up and JAWS is silent with no evidence of it still being running. * Use many key combinations in many different combinations of execution (Tab, Control+Alt+Delete, F6, Alt+Tab, Control+Alt, all four arrow keys, Home, End, & Enter). * Comment - Still nothing from JAWS. * Execute Control+Windows key+Enter to start Narrator. * Comment - Narrator immediately finds the Password entry field. * Type in password and JAWS Eventually announces "JAWS Professional" and narrator announces "Narrator Starting". * Execute Capslock+Esc to turn off Narrator. * Windows key+M takes me to the Desktop. * Comment - I do this because sometimes JAWS repeatedly announces "Lost Focus". * Comment - JAWS appears to be working relatively well to navigate, launch programs and use those programs. I'm not going to go into the various down-Falls of JAWS in these applications except for spell check described below. * When I Execute some JAWS commands while on the desktop, as well as when application windows are open and in focus, nothing happens. * Insert+JAWS, cannot find JAWS in the Task Bar, System Tray and Running Tasks. * Insert+F1 brings up the JAWS commands for the Application in focus. * Insert+J, Space does bring up the JAWS command search feature. * The JAWS command Insert+Control+V tells me the version of the application in focus. * Comment - This includes providing me with the running JAWS version when the JAWS command search is in focus. This is how I was able to confirm that the correct version of JAWS is running. * Check to see if Alt+Control+J is set as the command for launching JAWS. * Most times it is not there and I have to re-set it. * Leave JAWS focus on the JAWS icon on the desktop for "just in case". * Insert+F4, Enter key to shut down JAWS. * Control+Alt+J to re-launch JAWS, or press Enter key to launch JAWS from the icon if it does not launch. * Like magic, JAWS is in the system tray and all appears to be well. * Comment - Significant improvements in how JAWS reads the spell check screen. Sometimes there is still a lag in when it reads the next word or the spell check statistics dialog box as well as JAWS sometimes only read the OK button in this dialog box, Insert+B will read the contents. * Going to the locked screen gives me mixed results with JAWS being able to read the screen so that I can log back in. Same behavior if the computer locks on its own. * Comment - Narrator works. * I have unchecked the various settings for running JAWS at startup and rechecked them and re-started JAWS. * I have run a JAWS repair. So, my assumption is that something is blocking JAWS from completely launching prior to the login screen. Does anyone have any ideas?
