Sigh of relief! Thank you. I just managed to change the forms mode setting.
I had to wait till I was trying to post, then do the insert thing. Otherwise
the setting for autoforms wasn't available. Nomore posting/refreshing issue,
yay! Thanks!

Wow that helps a lot. I've had the loading twice thing, too. And yes, it'll
just dump me into forms mode, or kick me out of it just as fast. Very
unpredictable. I'll change that setting and see if that helps! Thanks! Very
clear, btw.

A few thoughts.

First, with JAWS, some webpages act as if they load twice. I will click on a
link and JAWS will start speaking the next page. I assume all is well and start
navigating, typing, etc. However, it turns out JAWS hasn't processed the page
yet, and so after a pause (which I don't always catch), JAWS resumes speaking
from the top again. This is especially true with webpages that have lots of
links and other controls.
When I know from experience that I'm about to go to such a page, I wait until
JAWS starts speaking a second time. Only then do I go to work on it.

Second, I wonder how you're handling forms mode. If I remember correctly, the
JAWS default is "auto." This means that when a page opens, JAWS seeks out an
edit field and puts you in it. I've long since given up on that setting.
Instead, I have it set to manual.
Go into JAWS quick settings with insert-v, then arrow down to "Autoforms."
Press spacebar until JAWS says "manual" and tab to okay to confirm.
This will give you the choice of whether or not to go into an edit field. In
this case, you would press e (the quick navigation key for "edit field") and
once there, press enter to enable you to enter your username, password, etc.
Note that once in forms mode, you can tab from field to field without leaving
forms mode.
I found that in auto forms mode, JAWS would act unpredictably. With JAWS, it's
crucial to have maximum user control.

I hope this is both clear and relevant.

Hi. New to the list, to Jaws and to computers. How do you stop a page from
refreshing when you are typing/ I'm on afew forums and All of them seem to auto
refresh! I have done the insert, typed "refresh" selected "off' and then hit
ok. I have also shut down and restarted the computer afew ties since then. It
still says the refresh feature is off. But everytime I start typing, it either
jumps lines, causing some really funky posts which I then have to clean up, or
kicks me out of the type field completely. Did I miss a step? Is iththe sites
themselves? FS didn't have any further advice toher than what I just did when I
called them. Very frustrating. Thank you so much.
