Hi Matthew,

As other told you, JAWS keystroke to restart it in case of a crash in which
JAWS processes are still loaded is JAWS+WINDOWS+F4.
However, I suspect that your problem may be related to the audio playback
device.
You said that you connect a radio station or similar when JAWS speech feedback
goes out, so I suggest to check in the Utilities menu of JAWS's window
(INSERT+J, then ALT+U) which sound card is selected in the Sound Cards sub menu
to route JAWS speech output.
As an example, I have an old micro-component which can be connected via USB to
get computer audio there. The problem is that most recent drivers available are
not fully compatible in Windows versions newer than XP and not supported at all
on any 64-bit Windows version. Since I have to simulate a driver update from
witting Device manager each time I connect the micro-component because generic
USB Composite Device as installed by Windows doesn't work with it but even so
the main audio controller appears to be working properly, I had to configure
JAWS to always send speech output to the computer's built-in speakers
regardless of the Windows default playback device set in Sounds Control Panel
applet. If I don't configure JAWS in this way, I lost speech until I manage to
simulate the driver update, configure JAWS to send the output to the computer's
built-in speaker or unplug the micro-component.

Hope it helps!

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Making a keyboard shortcut for restarting JAWS

Hi, Folks. I'm one of those former Window-Eyes users who went kicking and
screaming over to JAWS. All that said, I only just yesterday started using
JAWS for the first time.

Anyway, my question is: Is there a keyboard shortcut for restarting JAWS if it
and some other software don't play nice together? I'm asking because I'm an
amateur radio operator (ham) and use an interface with a radio that when
plugged into my PC, takes all the sound away, including JAWS. At that point, I
need to restart JAWS, but see no keyboard shortcut to do this. Thoughts?
Thanks in advance.--Matthew Chao
