when you say standard desktop site, do you mean facebook.com or
m.facebook.com?

In computer I use the standard desktop site. When you enter someone's
profile from there, there's a button called “Send him/her/their a friend
request.” Simply press that button and you're done.

I am using the Facebook mobile site and cannot add friends. I am using the
add friend link, but requests are not going out.
