Hi, This is because it probably uses a lot of battery power to install the service pack and Microsoft wants to make sure your computer will not go into hibernation or the battery will run down when installing the service pack. I'm glad I'm not the only one who had that message. However, when I plugged in my laptop and ran the setup for the service pack again, it installed without any problems. Hello everyone, I just installed service pack 3 on 3 home computers. I thought i would pass this information to the list about laptops. I had no problem downloading the SP3, but when the laptop went to install the service pack, i got a ding, and a message that said, In order to install this service pack, you will have to be running AC power. I'm not really sure why this is necessary. Maybe someone can explain this to the group? Have a great day Yawl.
