This is a safeguard as Windows XP SP3 is similar to upgrading your operating
system where everything from the ground up is upgraded and you wouldn't want
your battery die part way through this process. If it did, you could end up
with a non-functioning computer, requiring  you to possibeley reformat the
entire ahrd drive.

Hello everyone,

I just installed service pack 3 on 3 home computers. I thought i would pass
this information to the list about laptops. I had no problem downloading the
SP3, but when the laptop went to install the service pack, i got a ding, and
a message that said, In order to install this service pack, you will have to
be running AC power. I'm not really sure why this is necessary. Maybe
someone can explain this to the group?
