Hi, well I think Avast provides more than that; it says it uses some transparent proxy so that Avast can detect malware on websites before they even get downloaded to your computer. I can actually confirm this when I went to some site. Three virus alerts popped up in a matter of seconds before the page even loaded. So Avast is certainly good at protecting you on the internet. It also has things like IM protection, E-mail protection, basic network protection, P2P File Sharing protection, and the traditional filesystem protection. Hope that helps.
