I thought some of you on the list might be interested in what I found about the free AVG 8 antivirus program. If you go to www.free.grisoft.com and choose the link for downloading the free version, you will be taken to a page where the three versions of AVG are listed. It was quite surprising to me to find out what the free basic version does not include. It does not include anti-rootkit detection, it does not provide protection for instant messaging, it does not screen downloads for malicious content, and it does not give real-time protection from poisoned web pages.
