to make a folder on your desktop, hit left windows key E, and this will put you in windows explorer. Up arrow a couple of times until you are in the desktop. Hit Alt F, enter on new, enter on folder. Once you hit enter on folder you name the folder whatever you wish and hit enter. A new folder will be on your desktop. From there you can cut and paste your unused icons into the new folder.
