Linda, Pressing Insert + A puts the cursor in the list of attachments. If there's only one, press the Applications key, which is three to the right of the SpaceBar on a standard keyboard. That should give you a context menu with Open at the top; press Enter on this and the attachment should open in Microsoft Word. The message saying using ms word to open the attachment just tells you in advance that it's a Word document.
If there is more than one attachment, after pressing Insert + A, use RightArrow to move to the next attachment before pressing the Applications key. Any better?
