First: JAWS 8 is also compatible with Firefox 3.0.
Second, the scripts that were originally written for Firefox 2 mostly
work as well with Firefox 3. They offer features such as bringing up the
JAWS Virtual Find dialog when pressing Ctrl+F, and allowing to read the
address bar with Insert+A. Without those scripts, these functions do not
work.
With JAWS 8, it is no problem to use the Firefox 2.0 scripts with
Firefox 3.0. However, with JAWS 9, there are some undesired side effects
that do not happen if these scripts are not loaded. The most prominent
is that, when you open Firefox by visiting an URL from within an e-mail,
menus and dialog focus changes are not read byy JAWS. Alt-tabbing away
and back to Firefox fixes this. It appears that the Firefox scripts do
something that was needed for Firefox 2, but which is no longer
necessary for Firefox 3 and proves contraproductive.

WHAT?!?!?!??!?! but one of the jaws 90 updates says it has support
for firefox3 beta! It can't b that much different...
Well, "support" and "support" here mean two different things I guess.
The support for Firefox 3 beta inside JAWS is there, but that does not
mean that the technical support people at FS will give support for
issues around Firefox. So Don's statement that FS does not offer
technical support until JAWS 10 may very well be true.
