Sorry, this isn't what he wants to do. He wants to mute speech and still use his Braille display. He doesn't want to quit jaws. To do this, hit alt j to bring up the jaws menu. Go down to the language submenu, then choose change synthesizer, and enter on no speech. Cheers Alex
