Hi Flor.

Since Jaws 4.51 when the Video intercept was released together with Jaws, it always has been recomended to uninstall the old version, before installing the new, if the user did'nt want to keep the old version. The reason is, that there can occur conflicts because the shared files, that not always are handeled correct by the uninstall program. Don't ask me why, but sometimes it happens for some computers, and not for other, and so is life.

Greetings from
Hans Pauli.

For a majority of users, I doubt that this is the scenario. It has never
been the case for me, when I uninstalled oder versions of JAWS and left
newer ones in situ.

Hi Alex.

You must never uninstall an older version of Jaws, without having
uninstalling the previous version first, because it will leave the system in
a critical situation.
The shared components does'nt act very well by the uninstall process, and
because difference between functionality in the newer versions, the newer
versions always have to be uninstalled before uninstalling an older one.

It does'nt life easyer, but... so it is.

Best regards from
Hans Pauli.

On Monday, with a view to trying to clear some disk space I decided to
remove jaws 8 from my pc. I told the removal process not to remove shared
components. However, it seems it did. When I rebooted after the removal,
all
I could run was jaws 10, but it seemed that my display drivers had been
removed. Fortunately I had my display drivers on my pc and managed to
reinstall them.
I can now run jaws 10 beta, but not jaws nne. When I try to run jaws 9 I'm
told: One or more shared components is missing, please reinstall the
product. However, when I try to reinstall the product from my jaws 9 cd,
or
the install package I've downloaded from the freedom scientific website, I
receive the following message:
Windows Installer
This patch package could not be opened. Verify that graphic 683 the
patch
package exists and that you can access it, or
contact the application vendor to verify that this is a
valid Windows Installer patch package. Today I've run ccleaner, but the
problem remains the same, does anybody have any suggestions?
Cheers
Alex
