i have seen this before come two ways on installing sound card drivers.
1. it turned the volume to 0 and just had to turn things back up.
2. if you got two sound cards and the second sound card is the one
updated or even the first. Witch ever one is running jaws will
switch. more frequent on inboard main sound chips and PCI or second sound card.

It would seem my husband decided to install some updated drivers on
his computer last night, now no speech, no window sounds come up.
The computer does boot up and he has just enough sight to see that
it's on the desktop, but no windows sounds and of course no Jaws...
The driver was for Creative Sound Card. I just have no idea how to
fix this without any speech.
He uses xp pro and Jaws 9.
