Hi Hans,

Are you referring to the "Prompt to save normal template" checkbox?  If so,
this checkbox was unchecked.  I think what might have happened is that I
might have had a document open and forgot about it.  If I had done this
would I have received the message I posted in my last email?  Thanks for
your help.

Hi Mike.

In the Options menu, Settings, and at the Save tab, there is a checkbox,
checked, that indicates that you should be asked if the standard pattern
"normal.dot" must be saved, every time you close Word.
Uncheck this checkbox, and press ok, and you should bee done.
