Yeah, now I see what you mean. I dont' have the time to look through all the
documentation. This is what I usually do, if I see some new feature, I press
insert+f1, and hopefully I get some info about it. Bit this one, I didn't
know it even existed.

Yeah, it's documented there, but, for example, it's not in any of the
what's new pages, nor is it on any of their podcasts.

I'm wondering why people say it's undocumented. Just go on that setting
and press insert+f1. You can read what it's all about.

Ah ha, however the "Rely on MSAA for List Views" feature has been there
since JAWS 7 I believe. This extra MSAA functionality and
configurability appears to be new, and FS just basically forgot to
document it, apart from within JAWS help I guess. In fact, if anyone has
Avast could they please try this new feature out and see if Avast
accessibility can be improved further? Because I'm using AVG Internet
Security right now and don't wish to change it due to the good firewall
it has. Thanks!

Chris
This sounds like similar instructions that Avast antivirus suggests one
follows for making lists etc more accessible. The directions for this
were
as follows:
Configuring JAWS to read lists in Avast:
1. Make sure that you're focused on the Avast Simple User Interface.
2. Press JAWS key 6 to open Configuration Manager.
3. Press enter to accept the New Configuration File dialogue box.
4. Press alt s to open the set options menu, then press a. The advanced
Options dialogue box appears.
5. Shift tab till you hear, "Rely on MSAA for List Views check box not
checked". Press space to check it.
6. Press enter to activate the ok button.
7. Either press control s to save your configuration file immediately,
or
press alt F4, pressing enter to activate the yes button on the confirm
dialogue box.
By taking these steps, you'll resolve an issue on some machines whereby
JAWS
stops speaking when focused on any of the lists in Avast.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] New "undocumented" feature in JAWS
Hi all,
I ran across a feature that is possibly new to JAWS 10. Check this out:
1. Press insert number 6 to open Configuration Manager. If asked for a
new
configuration name, press enter to accept the suggested filename, which
has
the same name of the executable with a .jcf extension.
2. Press alt s to open the set options menu, then press a to open the
advanced settings dialog box.
3. Tab around until you come across "MSAA Mode". By default, this is
set to
automatic, but you can set it to either enhanced or classic.
4. Press enter to accept the ok button.
5. Save the configuration with control s.
6. Exit Configuration Manager.
I've tried this feature with several applications, and it does make a
difference, particularly when in list or tree views.
Enjoy!
