Steve,

Thank you! You've made me feel much younger. I knew that I'd been able to
do this in Word 2003, but thought I was having a senior moment this morning.

Karen, Annette,

I just did this in Word 2003 in the following way:
Select the text, open the Table menu and choose Sort.
In the Sort by drop-down I had two options: paragraphs and field 1; Tab to
the Options button and press it.
DownArrow to Other radio button and focus jumps into the associated edit.
Press SpaceBar to replace the default hyphen character with a space; Tab to
and press the OK button to return to the Sort Text dialogue.
Tab to the Sort By drop down and it should now have three options:
paragraphs, Word 1 and Word 2.
The first time I did this it had Word 1 but not Word 2. I pressed OK just to
close the dialogue, then went back into the dialogue and the Word 2 entry
was in the Sort By list and I could sort by it. I don't know if this was a
glitch on my system or a problem with the Sort feature. Every time I've
tried it since, the entries in the Sort By drop-down tracked the changes I
made in the Sort Options dialogue.

Karen,

You are right, I could not find it either. I know that I've done this in
the past, but I admit it has been a while. It must have been in an earlier
version of Word, or some other word processor. All I can say is I must be
getting old thus qualified to say "Back in my day we could sort on the
second word on a line".

I don't have time right now to look into this more right now, but I will put
it on my list of things to do and see if I can figure it out.

Hi, Annette wrote:
