Yes I believe you answered me correctly. I have the systems here able to
share files and printers so this setup is a bit different than what you
have
there.

David,
I hope I answered you correctly based on our computers here.
We each have AVG 8 and we had to install it independently of each computer
and provide user name of that computer and put in the license number.
All the computer are networked to go online through the main router on my
desk, the other 2 have wireless connections*Allen's desktop and the
laptop*
That's where the networking ends...
AVG in it's install wanted the user name of that computer so he has his
and
I have mine plus the laptop since I am only the user of it,lol
But I figure I keep it going and running and all that stuff so I should
lay
claims to it, grins.
It's a good laptop. But I think in our case AVG seems to want us to set it
up as if we had only one computer or so it seems. I really don't have much
knowledge in this networking and the little I do know on it, I learned off
these lists here..

Do your computers see each other on the network?

I just noticed if you go into AVG and arrow down to system tools enter on
it
then do alt T, then arrow down to firewall...enter
Then your on general view or something like that and this is what I
noticed
how to get from page to page since control-tab didn't work. But right
arrow
does and I used the one on the numpad but guess either would do it. Then
tab
across that page of settings and when you loop back around just press the
right arrow again.
It does give some breif explainations of the firewall's settings. We have
3
computers here and all are on AVG 8 and all are set for stand alone
computer
if this helps you any.
I noticed in my logs of the firewall I had already over 25,000 hits that
it
has blocked and it gives a detail button and a delete button.
I do know this, if you choose to select the "block" when setting the
firewall as it has 3 choices...all, block, and stand alone. If the block
is
selected it will block all emails or it did for me as I still use Outlook
Express. So I changed it to stand alone and all my emails came through..

Hmm, I've had no problems using the AVG+Firewall once I've configured
it
correctly using the firewall configuration wizard. Did you tell it not
to
assign the profile later and automatically switch network detection or
something? That could be the problem and you'll have to re-configure
the
firewall using the wizard.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] the AVG firewall
I'm road testing the AVG plus firewall software bundle, and although it
is
working fairly well I do have an issue with the thing so far. I
configure
my
local network so all of the computers can see and talk to each other
but
then for some reason this system which is the only one at this time I'm
testing on stops being able to access the local network. The other
systems
can see it and access files for the most part but this unit doesn't
retain
that ability unless I go in and reconfigure it. It is stumping me as to
why
this system doesn't maintain access for more than a short time before
needing to be reset.
