ok for whatever it's worth,...like I was sure no virus or anything. it was a stupid verbosity setting with typing echo that somehow got changed around. working fine now, i compared all the settings for verbosity on both the pc and my netbook and bingo! gee, thanks again to everyone for their time and suggestions. I am a happy camper again.
