Hi,Dragging and dropping with Jaws is not a viable option in iTunes (or most likely anyplace else according to my experience.) It is possible to use copy and paste with iTunes and when moving items onto the iPod. In the file menu there are commands to add a file or a folder. The folder adding one does not work for me after the first time since after the first time it only lets me navigate to that one folder I use I went back to some of my former posts on blindpod and copied them here so you can get an idea of what is going on. If you have other questions just write to me. At one time I thought I had written out the exact directions but I can't seem to find them. I hope the following will help. It works for me when putting items onto my husband's two iPods.
Here are Anna's directions with that one addition: block quote Here's how to put a playlist in the iPod: 1. Create a playlist on the iPod. 2. Find the playlist in your iTunes library that you want to add to your iPod. 3. Focus on the Item list, select all the tracks, and copy them to the clipboard. Alt a and Alt c should work if you are in the list area of the playlist. 4. In the Source list of iTunes , focus on the name of the empty playlist you created on your iPod. Be sure that this playlist is showing up under the name of your iPod on the source list. block quote end Sherrie's addition Then tab twice until you are in the empty track list area of this playlist on the iPod. block quote 5. Type Control-V to paste the tracks into it. Good luck, This works for me when focusing on the name of a playlist and trying to paste does not work at all. I did discover by accident that I could put mp3 files straight onto the Ipod without putting them in Itunes first. The files I did this with were mp3 files for an audio book. I had copied them to the clipboard and was going to create a playlist in the Itunes source list to paste them in but instead created the playlist on the Ipod which was connected. It is a classic 80 gig if that makes any difference. After creating the playlist on the iPod I then tabbed twice to the empty track list and then did the control v for paste.. It worked. In fact, I have been having pretty good luck pasting into the empty track list section and no luck at all trying to paste into the name in the source list for some reason. Anyway, after pasting the audio book I did a select all and changed the info to audio book format in the Get Info. It plays fine on the Ipod and it is not in my Itunes library. This is a good thing for me to know since the Ipod has 80 gig and I don't have that much spare room on the hard drive of my laptop. Sorry to sound like a broken record (Oooops, showing my age since they don't have records anymore!) but the secret for me is to try pasting in the track list area instead of focusing on the name in the source list anytime you need to paste files and see if that works for you, too. It is worth a try. I have to do it that way even when pasting into Itunes. I have tried pasting into the Music folder by focusing on it but when I search for the items they are never there. Also, when I go to the edit menu while focusing on the music folder or the Ipod music folder the paste command says "not available". Go figure. Another note: I always add items to my iTunes by creating a playlist in iTunes I call new additions or some such name. Then whenever I want to add new files to iTunes I paste them into the list area of this playlist. Then I can look them over and make any changes in genre or other information. For example, some of my country music comes out with a different genre so that is when I change it to country so it will show up automatically in my country playlist. After the new files are set and you have added them to whatever regular playlists they belong in you can then delete the items from the "new additions" playlist so it will be ready for the next batch of new files. Now, are you totally confused? Feel free to write with any questions about using iTunes with Jaws 9 or 10 and I will do my best to help. I attempted to use the Control+Insert+numpad / command, move the cursor and repeat the command to drop. No clue what happened as next thing I knew every time I pressed a key JAWS announced Window and then the name of the key I pressed. Some how I got out of that mess, but I'm still confused on how to use drag and drop. I am using Windows XP, JAWS 10 at the moment, but can easily go back to 9, and I have a laptop set to the JAWS desktop keyboard setting. I know that I will have to use the function key to access the numpad. Do I need the numLock turned on?
