Of some reason it does not work when I start JAWS as a windows service.
When jaws is started as a service it automatically uses the usb device.

I disabled the start jaws as a service and tried and then it works just fine.

Strange, I tried both jaws 8 and 9, same problem.

So currently I do not start jaws as a system service which means that I do not get a accessible login as well as jaws does not work correctly when I press ctrl-alt-del to bring up the Windows Security dialog (windows xp).
To be able to use this dialog I need to start jaws as a service.

Yes, you can. You have to edit the jfw.ini file which isn't hard. Go to the
FS site and search for multiple sound cards under the technical support. If
you don't find it, I'll dig it up. They give you the step-by-step
instructions.

Hi,

I just installed a external usb soundcard.
I want to use this new usb device for music playback etc since it has a
much better dac than my integrated soundcard.
But I want to use the integrated soundcard with jaws.

Is it possible to configure jaws to use a different soundcard from the
one which is default on the system?

I use windows xp and jaws 8.0.2173.
