or pressing JAWS+Ctrl+s and select No speech and hit enter.
I find this method to be a fast way to "mute" jaws.
When I want it to speak again I just press JAWS+Ctrl+s again and select
eloquence or sapi5 and hit enter.
I like to select No speech to mute jaws when I listen to music.

And JAWS can also be muted by putting it to sleep, via the Config Manager,
which is a more 'permanent' way of stopping it speaking.

Hi,
You can certainly mute JFW by:
1. Bringing up the Jaws Verbosity Dialog with Jawskey plus V.
2. Hit the "End" key to go to the bottom of the list or tree.
3. You will hear: "Synthesizer Speech On". Pressing the spacebar hear mutes
your synth.
Pressing the spacebar again brings speech back.
This is certainly worth a look if someone has already looked at the volume
control sliders and mute check boxes.

Flor,
All I know for sure is he hit the insert key and didn't know what else he
was doing. What confused me, is the sighted person went into the control
panel and un muted something in there. That sounds to me, it had something
to do with the volume control, instead of a JFW problem.

What was he doing (or trying to do) and what application or JAWS
Configuration manager was he in when he muted JAWS? Did he mute all
sounds too? (If the latter, it's possible he accidentally hit one of
those extra keys on a multimedia keyboard - possibly a big round one
to the right? If that be, then pressing it again restores the sound.)

A friend muted JFW 10 with the keyboard. He doesn't know what keys he
hit and wants to know if there is a toggle keys to turn the mute on and
off.
