Hello Mike,

It sounds like you have resolved the problem using the excellent suggestions given by Flor. Here is something else you might keep in mind when trying to navigate these types of lists. You can quite often move down a choice at a time in the list by simply doing a left mouse button click simulation on the scroll bar. After routing JAWS and navigating to the scroll bar you can press slash key on the number pad or caps lock with 8 if using the laptop configuration. After doing a left mouse button click, read the current line to see if you hear the next choice in the list. If not, use up arrow with JAWS cursor still on to see if the next choice is shown just above the scroll bar. Sometimes you might use the left mouse button click simulation a couple times on the scrollbar before hearing the next choice. Quite often if you press the left mouse button a few times when focus is on the scroll bar then you will get a few new choices in the list and you can up or down arrow to the one you want to use. You can then move to the choice you want and do a left mouse button click to choose it. Of course, after making choices then put PC cursor back on. Again, I have found that quite often in lists that are not accessible using PC cursor that using the left mouse button click directly on the scrollbar will scroll the list down one choice at a time.

Take care. Have a nice Sunday!

Hi Tim,

I wish it were that easy. Tabbing doesn't take me anywhere. Take care.

never had to do that with any box I had that card in. Just tab to the
box and arrow to choice. Everything in there was accessible to jaws.

Hi Flor,

I use a sound card by Creative Labs, the Sound Blaster Audigy. It has a
sound selection page where you can select different ways your sounds will
come through the speakers. You can basically make the sounds have more or
less reverberation. For example; Ball Park, Cathedral, Living Room, etc.
On this page you have to route the PC cursor to the Jaws cursor to actually
read the list. When you route the Jaws cursor to PC cursor and arrow up &
down you can only arrow up or down 2 or 3 choices and you hear " scroll
down
symbol or scroll up symbol. My question pertains to when you come across
the scroll up or down symbol are there keystrokes that will achieve this
task? Jaws says scroll up or down symbol but, if you try to arrow where
jaws says this Jaws just says blank like it is actually reading a symbol
and
not words. I am truly sorry if my explanation sucks but, I am not very
good
at explaining these things. I just hope that I haven't totally confused
the
hell out of you or anybody else on the list! This is probably one of those
things that there isn't a real answer for but, I will never know unless I
ask. Thanks much, take care.

Hi Mike,

What in particular, or how, do you want to 'scroll'? Normally, we' just
read or use the arrow or page movement keys in the thing that needs to be
scrolled until we get to the point of interest. I also once or twice had
to
use (hold down) the left-mouse button for an extended period, say, 30
seconds, and I think one also had to have routed the JAWS cursor to PC in
that instance.

Hi All,

I have been looking through the Jaws help files and can't find the
keystrokes for scrolling. If anyone knows them would you please post them
to the list? All help will be tremendously appreciated. Thanks much, take
care.
Mike
