If your ripping options are set to verify album and track names on the internet and your speed is too slow, that may perhaps be the reason for the cd to be ejected, although I've successfully ripped cd's at less than 8 kbps via a dialup modem.
The fact that it's set to rip in mp3 shouldn't make the difference. Also, if the same cd has been ripped before on the same computer with the same program, it will also eject immediately without saying anything. You could change that setting not to look for titles on the internet, I think in the options menu, but I don't presently have access to win media player to check.
