hi Yvonne
yes, you can alter the punctuation for a specific program, or for all
programs.
Going on what you've said in previous emails, I think you would be best to
set it to default. this means all the programs you use will have the same
punctuation level.
of course you can change this setting if say for example, you are working in
word and are editing a file. in that instance you'd want punctuation spoken.
if you wish to change the punctuation per program you can use the same
insert V command to go to the options and press the letter P twice. or
until jaws announces punctuation.
Again like with the one in skype, this is a toggle command where you cycle
between none, some, most and all punctuation.
if you hit your space bar here, you will cycle through the options mentioned
above.
mine is usually set to most. I very rarely set it to all as then it is
really annoying. but then I've been using jaws for over 15 years so too much
chattering of jaws is well...annoying lol.
there is a more permanent way of changing punctuation of course. but this
will get you started for now.
you can do this per program if you wish, or I can help you set them all to
default.
can I ask if you are a new jaws user?
if I can help you out further, don't hesitate to ask.
Elaine

hello Elaine
yes it is back to normal
now when i press enter to call someone i only need to press it once
Chris holdsworth has given me another method i used the left bracket and
enter key with help from the space bar
but i pose you one more question
jaws announces every punctuation under the sun
it announces comma's semi colon's and even more annoying when reading emails
it says greater more than i can handle
if s there somewhere in where i jus been to stop this

so did I to be honest. it does though but it also makes your other keys
click and such which is what you found.
I tested it out with skype that's how I know what you've done. *smiles*
is your skype back to normal now?

hi Yvonne
the typing sound is enabled because you pressed insert (jaws key) and the
letter V for victor to get to jaws options.
this means you hear a sound each time you hit any key on the keyboard.
Personally speaking I think this item is miss ladled and gives the wrong
impression of what this item actually does.
this sound can be changed by hitting insert V, then the letter T to go to
the typing sound.
this is a toggle, which means you hit space bar on it and you will go
through different levels of sound the more times you hit spacebar.
for example, once on the typing sound item in the options list, hit space
bar once, it will give you options of non, level 1, level 2, level 3 and so
on.
each time the level goes up you will hear a typing sound grow louder.
for no sound, hit the space bar until jaws announces non.
once you are in this options list, if you tab over once after each item jaws
will tell you what that item does.
this is true for any program not just skype.
use insert H and insert W will tell you keyboard commands for any program
and also use insert F1 for further help and information.
I hope this helps you sort the typing sound out.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Question About the configuration Manager
Hi
When I bring up the JAWS verbosity list in IE, there is an item that
says "forms field identify using". I want to change this option and have it
stay changed. The best way to do this it appears is through the JAWS
configuration manager. However I haven't been able to find it there. How do
I go about finding it?
Any help is appreciated.
God bless,
Mark
