Well, can you feel the vibrations of windows loading up? (we need to know that the thing is working, first of all.) Then, when Windows has fully loaded, try the following - which may (or may not) bring sound back: Start menu; r for run; then type sndvol32 and then press enter. You are now in the volume dialogue. now tab twice to get to the Mute All checkbox, and press spacebar (to uncheck it. Try once or twice more here, if it doesn't work the first time.) You should hear something - however faintly. now if you hear something and it's not loud enough, press shift+tab to the master Volume up/down slider, and increase this volume to your desired level.
How about any extra keys on the keyboard: Might you have hit one of those and thereby accidentally muted sound? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Stansifer" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, July 19, 2009 5:33 PM Subject: [JAWS-Users] No Speech, no load tones. Hi Folks, The subject line pretty much says it all. This morning I started my desktop machine and absolutely nothing came up. I attempted to load Narrator to no avail. Is there any way at all to determine the status of the check boxes for the mute volume or speakers in the system tray?
