If Windows + m is not able to take you to the desktop, try the Windows + d combination. It is a toggle. Pressing Windows + d once will minimize all open windows. Pressing a second time will restore the windows to their original state.

I just checked with my english messenger buddy, the exact phrase in english you will hear is:
Windows, M, desktop, folder view, list view
I think you are maybe trying to press the wrong key. not jaws key and not application key. the windows key is located two keys to the left from the spacebar.
