Hi Flor,

I went back into the steps and after going into the default keyboard
manager, I tabbed 1 time, then typed " M U " and there I found the mute
synthesizer option. Sorry about jumping the gun. I should have been a
little more thorough in my efforts before responding. Thanks again, take
care.
Mike

  Hi Flor,

I just went into the steps and when I tuype"M u " I get "magic screen
magnification" and in arrowing through the list I don't find mute
synthesizer anywhere. I am running XP/SP3 Home , Office 2002 Home, & Jaws
10 latest. Did I miss something or should I try going into the Keyboard
Manager through the Configuration Manager? All advice will be greatly
  appreciated. Thanks much, take care.
  Mike

    Hi Donnie;

    1. Get into the keyboard manager with JAWSKey+8.

    2. Press ctrl-shift-d to get into the Default keyboard manager.

    3. Now type mu to get to "mute synthesizer".

    4. Press ctrl+a to Add a keystroke to this script.

    5. Press your keystroke (which could be, say, ctrl+shift+m).

    6. Tab through and observe the dialogue.

    7. OK your change. Save. Exit.

    8. note that pressing your assigned keystroke once again will unmute
    the synthesizer.

    Hey Flor,

Could you please tell me how to find this option? Also, how does it
    work?

    Thanks,

Yes, there is an option for Mute Synthesizer in the Default.JKM. You
there add a keystroke to enable it.

    keyboard
    manager. I can't remember though.

Press JAWSKey+v, End key, Spacebar. that toggles mute speech off/on.
