I think you might have something else going on with your system, I have used
AVAST for quite some time and have never had anything like that to happen.
Are you running any other virus or spyware programs? I know that sometime
you will get conflicting problems if you run more than one virus program at
a time.

I am using Avast antivirus standard edition. Occasionally, when I turn off
my computer and turn it back on I loose window sounds including start up
and shutdown. This appears to me after much trouble shooting on my part to
be an Avast issue. The resolution I found is to go in to add/remove
highlight Avast and select change remove which brings up choices. I have to
choose "repair" and wait to here "repair" was successful Then shutdown the
computer. On reboot the window sounds returns. Does this happen to any
of you using Avast?
