If you auto sync (which I find easier because you don't have to add the songs
to another list) you have to have all the songs stay on your computer in your
itunes library. If you have more songs on your computer then the ipod can hold
this sync feature doesn't work. If you set your ipod to manually add songs to
your ipod, then you can delete the songs off your computer but they will still
remain on the ipod. But you have to add each song to your ipod music list under
the ipod menu.
If you autosync and you delete a song from your itunes libary on the computer,
the next time you plug in the ipod, te song/(s) will be removed.
You can always change the option if you start out with one sync option and
decide you want the other.
