Try the 2 suggestions below.
I assume you are using word 2003.
1. Go into the table, go to table menu with alt+a, and then to
select/table.
2. Go again to the table menu (alt+a), arrow down to convert (or letter v)
and select table to text.
3. Press enter and you're ok.

If you really just want the text, go to the file menu, save as, and from

list of file types, select plain text (or one of the other options).
