If you're going to get Vista, I would suggest disabling UAC, or user account control as it's really an annoyance. Basically what it does is asks permission before you can run any program. I also found that Jaws tends to hang in the UAC dialog, so I would just disable it right away and save yourself all the hastle. I think in general Vista is more complicated. The layout of menus and things like the control panel is really something that would make more sense to a sighted person.
