We installed Office 2007 here a few months ago, and I do notice sluggishness. I don't think it is a screen reader issue though. You could probably smoke a cigarette before Outlook or any of the apps load. Mail messages take a long time to open, but I notice that the sluggishness is the most noticeable at the beginning, and things seem to improve after a little while. I think that some of the problem with Outlook 2007 has to do with the fact that it uses Word as its editor, so you have to wait for Word to load in the background.
