Hi.
I'm thinking the Control Up/down arrow are windows specific commands while
the JAWS specific commands are Alt up/down arrow.
Both get the job done.

Control + up arrow, reads prior paragraph.
Control + down arrow, reads next paragraph.
Control + num pad 5, reads current paragraph.
Using the Alt key instead of the Control key in the above keystrokes
allows
