Welcome to our little group. You can suppress the exclamation point by using the JAWS Dictionary Manager. Press JAWS key-D to launch it and then Shift-Control-D to bring up the default dictionary manager to apply this change to all applications. Select the Add dialog, and in the Actual Word edit field type "!" (without quotes) and in the Replacement Word field, hit the Space bar. Then tab to Okay and close the Dictionary Manager. Now, whenever JAWS encounters an exclamation point, its pronunciation will be silenced.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS and puntuation

Hi All;
I am having a dilemma with my JAWS, and punctuation.I have my JAWS set to sum in the punctuation, so JAWS does not say the punctuation, such as question, colon, semi colon, and so on, and it is working the way it is supposed to, but for one thing, it keeps saying exclaim when I use the exclamation mark, This is annoying, as I am a writer, and I don't like it to say the exclaim. So can some one tell me how to fix this problem? Every thing is right, and
I even tried to put it to say none, but it still says exclaim.
