Hi Rick,

I followed your advice about cleaning my system with anti-spyware and running a virus scan.

However, the error still came up during the installation. I had my daughter, who has experience with registry and is technological knowledgeable, get on my computer and correct the problem with the key. She established access for the problem key and the installation went smoothly. Now I can read PDF files!

to make sure it is clean, and un-install any earlier versions of Adobe
before trying to re-install Adobe 9.
I hope this works for you,since the other solution involves hacking the
registry.
