Again, you are asking for trouble using an outdated version of an anti-virus program. Unless their tech support experts can assure you that making Avast 5 accessible is a top priority that will receive immediate attention, you should seriously consider switching to another anti-virus program. Waiting months for a fix is simply not acceptable. On the other hand, you may well be able to continue using Avast 4.8 without encountering any problems. Just keep your fingers crossed and hope for the best.

at this moment I recommend to downgrade back to avast! 4.8 and disable
program updates. We will try to resolve this problem.

You can set iAVS update to manual:

1) Start avast! program

2) Right-click anywhere on its window and from the menu select SETTINGS

3) In left pane, click on UPDATE (BASIC)

4) Set Program option to "Manual".
