I use the following technique:
1. Press JAWS key+spacebar to invoke layered mode.
2. Press r to open Research It. The enter term dialogue box appears.
3. Type the word or phrase and press enter.
4. In the following list, select the lookup source and press enter.
5. The results are shown in the JAWS virtual viewer.
