Hi Russel,

Maybe the win 7 you installed is a 64 bits version and your brailledisplay doesn't have a 64 bits driver installed. For some older brailledisplays, like mine, there is no such driver available (yet) You might want to check out the website of your brailledisplay's company to check if there is a driver available there.
Hth,
freek.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] JAWS11 WINDOWS 7 AND BRAILLE DISPLAYS

I am running jaws11, windows 7, and office 7 on an HP Pavilion laptop. I
have an old Braille display which now connects to my old computer with a
serial cable.

Since the laptop does not have a serial port, I bought a usb 9 pin male
adapter hoping to get my Braille display, a powerbraille 40 to work with my
new laptop.

It will not work. JAWS tech support seemed clueless.

Is there a work-around? or will I have to run this laptop without a Braille
display, unless I buy a new one?

Respectfully,

Russell J. Thomas, Jr.
